Can you automate business reporting?

Yes, partly. Code pulls and computes every number on a schedule. AI only words notes from those numbers, and code checks each note. A person reads it before it goes to investors or clients.

The verdict switch

Lever 07

A switch with three positions: No, Yes partly, and Yes.

Set to Yes, partly. A workflow does the repeat work. A person approves the steps that matter before anything leaves the team.

What stays human in business reporting

  • What each metric means.
  • Why a number moved.
  • Anything sent outside the team.

Bring your version of the task to the call. Or send it in writing and you get a personal reply within 5 working days: yes, partly, or not worth automating, and how.

01Options

Ways to automate business reporting

4 ways, and when each one fits. Each names the workflow or tool that does it, where one has a page.
OptionWhen it fitsThe workflow or tool
01A Monday KPI workbookSomeone rebuilds the weekly numbers by hand every Monday. Code builds the workbook from your exports, and every note is checked against the computed numbers.Automate your weekly KPI reportUse case
02An alert when a key number dropsYou find out about a drop days later, when someone happens to open the dashboard. No page yet. Ask about it on a call.
03Weekly ad and client reportsYou report on campaigns every week, for yourself or for clients. No page yet. Ask about it on a call.
04Cash and runway every MondayYou want the numbers before the week starts. No page yet. Ask about it on a call.

02How it runs

How it runs, stage by stage

5 stages on one line. Only one uses AI, the word stage, and rules check what it returns. A person takes the read stage.
  1. 01Schedule

    Trigger

The report runs on a schedule, every Monday morning or on demand.

  2. 02Compute

    Rule step

Code finds the newest exports, fixes broken rows and computes every number, keeping the history.

  3. 03Word

    AI step

AI picks and words 3 to 5 notes, using only the numbers code computed.

  4. 04Check

    Rule step

Code checks every number in the notes against the data. A note that fails becomes a template line.

  5. 05Read

    Person step

A person reads it before it leaves the team.

03Worked example

A worked example, in numbers

Arithmetic on example values, so you can check every step. It is an illustration, not a result we measured.

Example: one weekly report

Example values, not a measured result

  1. 01

    Building the report by hand takes 3 hours a week: 3 x 52 = 156 hours a year.

  2. 02

If code builds it and a person spends 20 minutes reading it: 20 x 52 = 1,040 minutes, about 17 hours a year.

  3. 03

About 139 hours a year back.

Your numbers will differ. The calculator runs in your browser and uploads nothing.

06FAQ

Questions about business reporting

Can AI write our reports?

It can word notes from numbers code already computed. Code checks every number in each note, and a person reads the report before it goes to investors or clients.

Does AI calculate the numbers?

No. Code pulls and computes every number on a schedule.

Will it explain why a number moved?

No. The workflow describes what changed. Causes stay with a person.

Can it build client reports for an agency?

That option is planned, and shown as text until its workflow is live.

What happens if the AI step fails?

A note that fails the number check is replaced by a fixed template line. If the AI step is down, the whole report uses templates, so the numbers still arrive on time.

Does personal data reach the AI step?

No. Emails are hashed when the data is read, and only totals and other summary figures go to the AI step.

Where does the report land?

In the workbook your team already uses, with a short digest posted to your team chat and a log of each run.
